I passed my exams! That's why I've been so quiet these last few weeks. The essay was easy enough with Xarin's imput on reflecting upon our nature as NPCs, and what might be the cause for us having unique personalities and manifestations..
There's so much more to dive into there, but I feel like there's so much more info we're missing. And turns out, there is. I've found a website, called the Pythonix Records, that discusses not only different data storage procedures for a lot of the information I found during the semester, but also for a whole other set of circumstances around our mother's passing.
Pyre was Sarothi's best friend, so… It makes sense, doesn't it? That she'd be reporting on that whole scenario, and there's a lot of buildup to it. I'm going to see what I can do about restoring the website, but it does involve going through the files and trying to re-establish the pattern of reporting. Xarin's going to be helping, and we're gonna try and not tamper with the content there.
The strangest part is that she recorded notes Sarothi gave her ages ago, small things, stories we haven't heard before. Things Yaldaboath wouldn't tell us, from how she became a doctor to how Quellston became their home after her time in SearStone had come to a close. How they managed to get Eonigia back from a deep hibernation. How Mom chose Pyre to be our Caregiver if something should have ever happened to her. Ironic given Pyre was the first of our whole family to pass.
What that meant for all their political alliances, and the importance of protected seafaring tradesfolk.
I think after our parents settled down, all of that fell to the background, especially after Xarin and I were born. In some strange way, I think Mom was trying to sheild us from that stress. The meetings, late nights at the hospital, all the duties that only partly came with being Queen. She warned me I would have to be up to the task, unless Xarin decided to take over in that role.
He did take over, when Eonigia passed on. It was announced and all the hubbub around him being unfit came further into play. Personally, I think he is the better choice of leader. He and Pyre had a more significant connection to one another, and Pyre, as a leader, was full of advice and skills she could give him that our Mom couldn't, and that Dad refuses to.
In fact, I don't think either of us have had contact with Dad since the middle of the semester, six weeks ago? He's been off the radar and not even our uncles can figure out where the hell he went. I would say it's almost infuriating, except it is deeply infuriating. Especially when you could really use the advice of your Dad on a topic he would know so much about.
But I digress, this is not exactly the kind of space to rant about that.
I'm going to see what I can do about accessing the Pythonix Records. According to Xarin, the first four posts have already been recovered, so it might be easier to find the others if we can find records with similar "quirks". That means headed back to the isle in the meantime, though, for the holidays!
(He's asked I don't post this goofy picture of us as kids, but talking so much about Mom and Dad, I felt like I should. It's not like they can exactly stop us. Plus if we're talking about Mom more, it's an injustice not to show who she was.)
This link here should take you to the site... Working with the good old fashioned website creator to help bring it into context for myself and Xarin, and it might make it easier for you to navigate too.
